Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Salary Range: P25k-35k

Working hours: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm 

Work Schedule: Thursday to Monday

 

We’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic Accounts Assistant to join our growing team! If you have a keen eye for detail and a passion for finance, this is your chance to play a vital role in our day-to-day operations. As an Accounts Assistant, you’ll be responsible for daily banking, end-of-day reconciliation and processing, supporting the month-end close, and assisting with Finance Contract completion. Key Responsibilities

 

Accounts Receivable/Banking

  • Email Management of shared account
  • Store contact for customer queries regarding account balances
  • Support for other team members in the following areas was required: 
  • Processing EOD store banking windows and investigating discrepancies
  • Daily Bank reconciliations – applying customer payments, transfers, and credits.
  • Preparing & processing customer Refunds
  • Backup support for commercial accounts receivable 
    • Trial balance prep
    • Debtor control 
    • Invoicing
    • Statements

 

Finance Support

  • Support for other team members in the following areas was required: 
  • Process of Finance Companies’ data and reconciliation of finance contracts.
  • Process Finance Company refunds through Finance Portals.
  • Following up on stores on uncompleted Finance Contracts.
  • Ensure that Finance Contracts are accurate and all information presented correctly. 

 

Month End

  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer in pulling the month-end reporting, formatting, and review. 
  • GST Return preparation and reconciliation.
  • Review of expenses for variances. 
  • Accounts Receivables/Banking EOM checks

 

Project Work

  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer & Accounts Manager as required.

 

Other

  • Provide support to other remote team members 
  • Assist with testing and implementing new/ changing processes
  • Other work as required by the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounts Manager, and the Directors from time to time.

 

Continuous Improvement

  • With a real business improvement culture, it is the expectation that all staff actively work to evaluate current work practices to improve procedures and workflows

 

Health & Safety

  • Actively support safe workplace procedures and policies with regard to health, safety, and wellness within all Bigsave operations.
  • Ensure all workplace incidents are accurately recorded in a timely manner.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

 

  • Proven experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Familiarity with finance contract processing
  • Background in customer service, with a client-focused mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel
  • Understanding of the furniture retail industry is highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of Business Central or a similar accounting program
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude, with the confidence to challenge the status quo
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the business
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities and addressing potential issues
  • Logical and methodical approach, with the ability to think laterally and use initiative
  • Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
