Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Salary Range: P50,000 – P60,000 (depending on skills and experience)
Work Hours: Monday-Friday; 6:00 am to 2:30 pm PH time (NZ holidays off)

 

We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in our ability to secure stone supply contracts for mostly large residential construction projects, although bids for commercial projects will be required from time to time. 

The ideal candidate will bring their expertise in quantity surveying to the forefront, utilizing their skills to analyze plans, specifications, and other project documents meticulously to derive timely and accurate drawings and quotes to support our bids for projects. The primary output is to provide accurate and detailed 3D rendered drawings and quotes, thereby contributing significantly to the successful execution of our construction endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing Construction Plans – Demonstrate a proven track record in analyzing construction plans, specifications, and related documents to derive precise cost estimates for quoting.
    • Produce Accurate 3D detailed drawings – Demonstrate proficiency in producing accurate 3D rendered drawings of stonework for construction projects to enable clarity for clients and modifications to be undertaken as projects develop.
    • Cost Estimation – Demonstrate proficiency in cost estimating techniques and tools. Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for stone supply.
    • Effectively communicate with various stakeholders – primarily internally within Island Stone, but at times, this may also include exernal stakeholders such as; clients, designers, architects and Quantity Surveyors for projects.
    • Collaborate with the team – to ensure accurate project drawings and subsequent quoting.
    • Effectively manage time – to meet client required deadlines, working effectively and efficiently across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Perform other adhoc tasks as needed – which may include CAD drawings for bespoke stone furniture pieces such as; benchtops, kitchen islands and vanity units.


Key Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, or alternatively, a degree in business, finance, or economics with a focus on construction is acceptable.
  • Hold a chartered status through a professional body (i.e., RICS) or other relevant national surveying or construction organizations.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong mathematical and statistical skills for precise measurement and calculations.
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes. Experience with natural stone products is desirable.
  • Relevant knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating techniques and tools with the ability to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, and equipment.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and project teams.
  • Proficient in using relevant software tools for quantity surveying, such as cost estimating software, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Proficient in using Sketch Up, to develop 3D drawings with render.
  • Attention to detail when reviewing project documentation and preparing cost estimates and ensuring accuracy in all calculations.

  • Ability to identify and solve problems related to cost and other technical project issues.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be an excellent team player and must have collaborative approach to work well with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders involved in constructing accurate quotes.
  • Strongly self-motivated with a high-level of commitment to the role.
